Location: Carnegie, PA
We are seeking a detail-oriented and certified Medical Coder to join our client’s healthcare team in Carnegie, PA. The Medical Coder will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses for billing and insurance purposes. This role is crucial in ensuring that healthcare providers are reimbursed appropriately for their services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Review patient medical records and assign appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal regulations, insurance requirements, and organizational standards.
- Work closely with medical billing staff to ensure that all codes are entered correctly and that claims are submitted in a timely manner.
- Conduct audits of patient records to ensure proper coding and compliance with guidelines.
- Respond to coding-related inquiries from healthcare providers and staff.
- Stay updated on changes in coding standards, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
- Participate in training and continuing education to maintain coding certification and improve coding accuracy.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Familiarity with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain patient confidentiality.
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $60,000 a year ($24.00 – $29.00 per hour), based on experience.
