Job Description
Location: Houston, TX
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our client’s pharmacy team in Houston, TX. The Pharmacy Technician will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmacy practices, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications.
- Accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy management system.
- Prepare medications for dispensing, including measuring, mixing, and labeling.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and organizing medications and supplies.
- Handle customer inquiries, provide medication information, and offer guidance on over-the-counter medications.
- Process insurance claims and resolve any issues related to prescription coverage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety and health regulations.
- Perform cashier duties as needed, including processing payments and handling transactions.
- Assist with pharmacy audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support the pharmacy team with additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) recognized program and certification is required.
- Valid Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Texas.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy practices, medications, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software and technology.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight.
Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $35,000 – $45,000 a year ($16.00 – $21.00 per hour), based on experience.
